Logo Design for NO COVERS - Newcastle's latest live music night

I am not the best at logo design! Whilst I enjoy the process I find the concept slightly daunting. A logo is a huge responsibility, its needs to be 100% relevant to the brand, reflect the tone and identity of the night, be instantly recognisable to a casual viewer and social media scroller
Its always a tricky process and I am always grateful when the client has a strong input - as they will know the brands identity better than i ever could
No Covers is having a rebrand - I previously designed a poster for a No Covers night and the concept was a bed with 'no covers' and a guitar across it - its so old i cant find a copy of it ANYWHERE
But with the event being relauched - the promoter asked me to come up with some logos and sent me his ideas for me to create. As I always say my job is to make what people can only imagine
Version One
Distressed typography, NO in small letters above huge COVERS, Scratched/graffiti texture, Guitar cable or lightning bolt cutting through the lettering, Feels like an underground alternative music festival
Fonts are brilliant - all the best logos are just iconic fonts - like Coca Cole, Nike, Lego etc - so no pressure! The trick is finding something fresh and still maintaining a classic feel

Version Two
A vinyl record or album sleeve with a big X through it, The words NO COVERS underneath, Could use a rough, hand-painted gig-poster style.
Use a black vinyl record with the centre label reading NO COVERS.
But instead of the record grooves, have the grooves subtly form an N or NC
I have combined these two ideas into one - whilst the idea itself was fine - it didnt land in real life and was too retro / vintage for the night

Version Three
Create a distinctive symbol from the letters N and C, perhaps with the C forming the head of a microphone, NO COVERS in a strong block typeface
I really liked this one - it was difficult to get right as the letters dont lend them selves too
well to the idea - but I think I created something interesting

Version Four
Maybe a weird one like a naked male and female greek statue. Male holding a record saying No on it and a girl with 2 records over her nude parts 🤣🤣🎸

This idea came in at the last minute and it was PERFECT - not too obvious, never been done before, eye catching and shows personality and charm -

I am DELIGHTED with this and it seems the client is too!
