5 years of FACE/OFF poster designs

The evolution of my take on the posters for the iconic Derb darts exhibition FACE/OFF
Its only when you look back, you realise how far you have come.
Face/off is one of the stalwart exhibitions in the MDA / MODUS calendar - its been going since at least 2011 and has continued to grow and grow with each passing year.
Since becoming a freelance designer and being linked with MDA I have been lucky enough to be tasked with putting my take on the poster art - and what my era of FACE/OFF posters look like.
FACE/OFF has always had a GRAND THEFT AUTO theme - with the boxes motif ideal for showcasing the different darts players booked for each show
It was my idea to move from the classic GTA style to the 80s neon VICE CITY feel - this would be brighter and more eye catching for the public to spot (and a lot more fun for me to design)
I also wanted to give each player picture an art work feel as opposed to a photograph to stand out from the other show posters.
As you can see from the half decade of my designs, I have tried variety of methods to create my cartoon style players - with oil painting filters, poster edges and colours enhanced in various was to add vibrancy and texture to the poster
I also LOVE the bright colours used - its different to any other darts poster out there and gives the show a real identity of its own
The 2026 edition is designed around the 'upcoming' GTA 6 in an effort to keep the design current and relevant - plus its always good to grow and expand the design and skill set behind it
Face/Off is one of my favorite posters to design and I love that I have been given 5 years of the exhibition to have fun with - its a rare design that has both a set theme and complete freedom to play with
The 2026 Edition also has a Halloween theme - so I have created a host of fun Halloween walk on videos and graphics - but like a mummy, these are under wraps!
Here are my Face/Off posters from 2022 - 2026

As Face/off has grown I have been tasked with designing specific match cards to be used on social media and the big screens at the events - each of which stayed within the theme
And for 2026 we have a promo video to open the show - which is inspired by the GTA 6 promo video!
