NUFC MATTERS

NUFC Matters is a group of passionate Newcastle United fans, based in the North East of England who do as much as they can to discuss, promote and celebrate their love of the Toon Army

In addition to that, they use their time and efforts to raise money for local charities.

I managed to get involved with NUFC Matters by accident - after a visit to one event to meet my football hero Kevin Keegan, an event that was hosted by NUFC Matters. I ended up speaking to Steve Wraith (the man behind the company) and told him what I can do - and in exchange for an autograph from King Kev, I designed his next events poster

From that moment my relationship with Steve grew and he decided to go back to his roots in the fan community - and asked if I could help him build a new fanzine to be sold and raise money for his chosen charity that year - Dementia UK

Again I offered my services for free - to aid the charity and committed to a series of 4 fanzines.

The process was very simple - I was sent the articles, adverts and page count and left to my own devices to create an interesting looking fanzine

I enjoyed the return to my journalism roots and media degree - putting together a magazine that made perfect sense for the reader and fit the brand of Newcastle United and NUFC Matters

Each issue has sold out and money raised for Dementia UK - to the point we have decided to do the same again in the new season - another 4 issues talking about everything Newcastle - this time raising the money for AGE UK North East

The new fanzine will be available from www.nufcmatters.com
